Introduction: Rotary Partnership Makes a Difference for Youth

GENERATIONS OF CHANGE: O.K. PROGRAM WORKS TO BUILD A NEW GENERATION OF BLACK MEN 

The Rotary Club of Indianapolis strives to make a difference with a partnership, by committing $75,000.00 to the O.K. Program.  We find this program to have such a positive mission with a successful outcome; and to recognize and give a heightened awareness to their success would be meaningful.  Also, we hope the Rotary Club of Indianapolis can be an example and lead the way to additional support for this program. 

Sergeant Timothy Knight, along with five other IMPD officers, work with students ages 12-18 to not only to raise GPAs and self-esteem, but most importantly, serve as strong black male role models and father figures.  Many of the O.K. students live in neighborhoods where gang violence, crime, drugs, prostitution and single-parent households with absent fathers are often too familiar.  This program has offered hope and a strong, positive influence for those youth who, otherwise, may never experience this type of attention.

Please see the attached story of a program built on a hope for tomorrow. You will also find testimonials of youth whose lives have been changed because of the time and effort of those officers of the O.K. Program.  Every youth this program touches potentially saves another life.
