Gamewell became the fifth product line of Honeywell’s Fire Systems Group in March 2003. It joined Fire-Lite Alarms, Inc., Fire Control Instruments, NOTIFIER, and Silent Knight. Fire Systems Group is a division of Honeywell’s Automation and Control Solutions unit. The merger of Gamewell and FCI (Fire Control Instruments) was announced by Honeywell at the December 2005 Gamewell Distributor Conference. |

More than 150 years ago, when Gamewell installed its first municipal fire alarm system in Boston, using their now-famous master boxes, they launched a history of innovation and rock-solid reliability. That same dedication to innovation has fueled the success of Fire Control Instruments (FCI), which designs, manufactures, and supports some of the most technologically advanced fire safety systems available. |

| NFPA's Uniform Fire Code: For A Safer Indiana | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
USAutomatic Sprinkler Corporation invites National Fire Protection Association’s Russ Sanders to contribute an article on NFPA 1: Uniform Fire Code™ 2006 Edition. |
Work on NFPA 1 began in 1971 as a guide for development of a local fire prevention code. The Fire Marshals Association of North America, in the late 1980s, began development of a code that was more self-contained, but drawing significantly from other NFPA codes and standards. A major rewrite resulted in the 1992 edition of the Fire Prevention Code. The 1997 edition was written and refined as part of the requirements of NFPA 1. The NFPA 1: 2000 edition was a complete rework with additional references to NFPA codes and standards. |
