Pipe Price Increases

In our last issue, we warned of major price increases in steel products. Price increases exceeded our expectations considerably. We experienced compounded pricing pressure of 15% in January, 20% in February and 30% in March. The forecast for April is another 20%. We are told to expect 20% per month for May, June and July! Can the market sustain these increases? We don't know. What we do know is that material shortages by pipe sizes may occur when you least want or expect them. Plan for this contingency in your construction schedules and contract language.
