Quarterly Training Workshop Held

FlashPoint 101, a quarterly workshop, sponsored by USAutomatic Sprinkler, was held on July 14, 2006 at FlashPoint Center. This is a fire detection, alarm, and suppressions systems quarterly workshop. This course is provided at no charge to existing USAutomatic Sprinkler clients and invited guests. This unique, informal training workshop is headed by experienced and certified instructors. This quarter’s instructors included David L. Asphlund, Reliable Automatic Sprinkler, Gary Hewlett, Gamewell FCI, and Brian Sauer, Pike Township Fire Department.

Quarterly Training Workshop Held

Gary Hewlett is with Honeywell Fire Systems, Gamewell-FCI. He is the North Central Regional Manager. Gamewell-FCI designs and engineers commercial fire alarm systems for a broad scope of commercial, industrial and institutional applications worldwide. Gamewell-FCI delivers carefully engineered, dependable products as a result of innovative and consistent, research and development. Gary hosted an excellent presentation on fire alarm and detection systems.

Reliable Automatic Sprinkler’s David L. Asphlund, P.E. holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Colorado and is a registered fire protection engineer. He sits o the National Fire Sprinkler Association Engineering and Standards Committee. David was a fire protection contractor for nineteen years and has been with Reliable Automatic Sprinkler Company, Inc. for ten years.

Brian Sauer has years of experience in code enforcement, fire suppression and detection systems. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Fire and Safety Engineering Technology from Eastern Kentucky University. He held the position of Fire Safety Specialist for Ball State University where he was responsible for all campus fire protection issues including inspection, testing and maintenance of fire alarm, suppression and detection systems. Brian was also heavily involved in fire inspection and code enforcement while serving as a Deputy Fire Marshal with the Indianapolis Fire Department. Brian was Fire Marshal for Pike Township Fire Department.

FlashPoint 100 Series courses and workshops are typically 2-3 hours in length and are provided at little to no cost. Attendance is restricted to USAutomatic Sprinker clientele and/or invited guests.
